Position Title: Employment Specialist
Location: Female Community Corrections Facility (CCF)
Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: $38,885.00
The Employment Specialist works under the guidance of the Assistant Facility Director and works at least 40 hours per week. The Employment Specialist is responsible for all aspects of the CCF resident employment program, confirms resident work schedules, calculates/collects resident work fees, instructs CCF residents in the area of Life Skills. The Employment Specialist shall employ a spirit of common sense and courtesy in order to develop and maintain a professional, positive working relationship with CCF residents and staff.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Interviews and assesses each resident’s work experience, job marketability and special needs.
- Discusses job opportunities with residents.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with the community’s employers.
- Conducts employment related field visits.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with the Texas Workforce Commission, Texas Rehabilitation Commission and other resourceful agencies.
- Assists CCF residents in obtaining documents required for employment such as I.D. cards and Social Security cards.
- Instructs and/or role plays CCF residents in the areas of work search methods, job application completion and job interview techniques.
- Responsible for the CCF employment program and resident contract.
- Assures that employment searches and interviews do not interfere with programming.
- Attends and participates in the CCF resident/administrative staff meetings.
- Maintains statistics on services provided.
- Transports residents to work, medical appointments or other approved destinations.
- Reports any and all personnel issues to the Director or Assistant Director.
- Is knowledgeable of and uses universal precautions when dealing with residents.
- Conducts self in a professional manner with colleagues in the criminal justice system, with offenders, with victims, and with the public.
- Complies with CJAD Standards; Residential Code of Ethics; Departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as required.
- May travel within the city environment with little notice. May travel outside the city in order to complete training sessions and program development seminars.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Be familiar with community resources.
- Ability to operate various office equipment.
- Ability to administer CPR and/or first aid in an emergency situation.
- Be able to work independently and efficiently.
- Possess skills to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Possess good judgment and sound decision making skills.
- Be adaptable, flexible and cooperative.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position which may include bending, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds, standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time.

- Ability to project and maintain an image consistent with the aims, goals and philosophy of the Concho Valley Community Supervision and Corrections Department
- Ability to effectively and consistently communicate the mission and philosophy of the Department.

- Ability to follow the philosophy, policies, procedures and directives of the Concho Valley Community Supervision and Corrections Department.
- Ability to conduct fair and objective investigations.
- Ability to make constructive suggestions that could enhance the structure and operation of the CCF.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License (if employee is coming to this position from another state, this requirement must be met no later than thirty days following date of employment).
- Must have a telephone number at which they can be reached.
- Must have the appropriate automobile insurance.
- Must maintain appropriate dress and appearance as indicated in Concho Valley Community Supervision and Corrections Department policies.
